At the recommendation of a great friend, Sifu Claudio rented a space at the Chinese Social Center of Rio de Janeiro to teach a Kung Fu seminar. During that seminar, he had a powerful presentiment: "Here, I could help many people.", and that feeling became Instituto Lou Fu.
The name Lou Fu means "Ancient Tiger."
The tiger is a powerful symbol in Chinese martial culture: courage, strength, protection, and the guardian of the South. It's also one of the animals that take form as a Taolu in Choy Lee Fat and many other styles of Kung Fu.

It was a fortunate coincidence. Or perhaps the art revealing itself.
The Ancient Tiger now guards our door.
Located at the Chinese Social Center's century-old building at the heart of Lapa, Bohemian neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, the Institute soon brought new action (and discipline!) to a lively place surrounded by music.
"The community received the school well. The students themselves, upon understanding the philosophy and tradition, refer relatives and other students.", says Sifu Claudio.
But that's only part of the equation of Lou Fu's popularity...
One student arrived with emotional challenges during a difficult period. Through dedicated training and guidance to restore her Qi, she now enjoys a great quality of life.
It was only one of the many stories that were about to unfold within the Institute under the guidance of its honorable keeper: Sifu Claudio has this special skill of making students feel welcomed and cared.
"The human being is more important than anything else. Respect your neighbor."
